The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Movie

This movie...was just amazing.

Holey's Top Ten Games of the Decade (3-1) + Honorable Mention

So here it is, my top 3 games of the decade. I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but that's what opinions are for, right?

December 20, 2010

Holey's Top 10 Games of the Decade (7-4)

And here it is, the continuation of my top 10 list. We left off with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door last time. So next up is...

December 19, 2010

Holey's Top 10 Games of the Decade (10-8)

So, I'll be doing something similar to what our cleaner did. Being a huge gamer myself, I figured it'd be pretty interesting to type out a list of my top 10 games of the decade. So, here it is.

Earliest Release for Takkoku!! Will Be...

Either Tuesday or Wednesday. I feel bad for delaying it so much, but our members are busy with college finals and all, so there's nothing we can do about that.

Anyways, our translator/cleaner will be free starting Tuesday, and for once I'll get off my lazy ass and typeset like the Fist of the North Star.

Any Team Fortress 2 Players Out There?

The newest update is amusing, to say the least.

So the new update throws in a lot of new weapons and hats, along with a new "Medieval Mode". Medieval Mode is basically...an all-out Medieval Capture-the-Point warfare. Mostly melee only, but Sniper and Medic have the option of going with the bow.

The new weapons include: The Claidheamohmor, The Back Scratcher, The Boston Basher, The Fists of Steel, The Amputator, The Crusaders Crossbow, The Ullapool Caber, The Loch-n-Load, The Buffalo Steak Sandvich, The Brass Beast, The Warriors Spirit, The Candy Cane, and The Jag.

Just a little annoyance of mine, goddamn Medics can snipe now.

Full Impressions on Amagami SS

Back to blogging a little about anime. I stopped doing so because it was too tedious and I had time restrictions. Luckily, our "writer" will be picking that up in my stead.

Anyways, I just recently finished Amagami SS.

Far right girl is mine.

December 15, 2010

Delays on the next Takkoku!! Chapter

So finals are coming up for all of our members (except me), so the next chapter probably won't be released until next week. Sorry!

999: An Introduction

Like I mentioned in my intro, my main focus for the time being will be on this game. So what is 999?

It is a DS game, recently localized by Aksys Games and released on November 16 of this year. It was released in Japan one year prior, on December 10, 2009. The full title is Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors.

December 11, 2010

A Midnight Introduction

Well, midnight on the West Coast. It's nearly 3 AM here on the East Coast.

But that's beside the point. Holey has requested that I, given my propensity of typing my thoughts far too lengthy and often, to find a better place to post them than on IRC. So with that, he has offered that I blog my thoughts on this site. And so, here I am.

If I don't do so and start making posts now, I will probably not get the chance to do so again. As I type, I'm in the midst of many startling revelations, which I will go further in-depth in another post. As such, I'm wide awake, despite the time (Although I've got a splitting headache, given that I'm typing in my bed and my pillows are not the comfiest. Such is college dorm life.).

So, a brief summary of what I'm doing now.

Currently watching:
-Actually, anime watching has stopped completely in lieu of the below, but what I had been watching prior was:
-Amagami SS: On-hold after Ai's arc, leaving me at the beginning of Rihoko's arc, episode 17. I believe Holey is at the same point, more or less. For the record, I'm a Sae fan.
-Yosuga no Sora: Stopped after Akira's arc, since Nao is the arc to follow. As you may have guessed, Akira is my favorite, while Nao is my most hated. Of course, I think Haruka/Sora is the most appropriate couple, either way.
-Not much else, but the last major thing I watched was the Nanoha movie, which I can attest to the fact that it was awesome and is a must for any Nanoha fans, potential, veteran, or otherwise.

Currently playing:
-Pangya, the golf MMO by NTreev (now SG Interactive). EricAB is my ID, a Semi-Pro D account after 4 and a half months of playing. I main Hana/Kooh, with Lucia/Arin as secondaries. Currently working on the Island Tour for Nell, but that has been severely halted by the following.
-Grand Chase, the Maple Story-esque MMO also by NTreev/SGI. My main motivation for playing was the pink-haired dancer character, Amy. Having finally unlocked her after three-and-a-half months of playing (I started playing exactly one month after picking up Pangya), I've taken a break to catch up on other things. Like...
-999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. The DS visual novel that has been keeping me up at night this past week (well, save for college work, and dorm parties on the floor below me that last until 2 AM... bastards). I'm finally nearing the last route, and as such, I'll resolve to finish it before I have to study for finals. Keep in touch, my next few posts will focus particularly on this.

That's the general gist of it. Until next time.

(P.S. My choice of words will have bouts of colorful articulate... ness. It's kinda part of my style, but I'll switch back and forth between that and a more informal format like now. Bear with me on that. It's just one of the many things I notice about my sometimes annoying typing habits...)

Reg's top 10 games of 2000-2010 (3-1)

Here's the end of the list. I fully expect multiple people to disagree with these three entries, but I feel that each of these three, in their own way, are the pinnacle of gaming for the past eleven years.

December 10, 2010

Reg's top 10 games of 2000-2010 (6-4)

Well, there's the continuation of the list I started yesterday. Going to pick up where I left off and go through Number 4. Going to emphasize the fact that there will be spoilers for games, so if you're sensitive to spoilers, don't read the write-ups

December 09, 2010

Reg's top 10 games of 2000-2010 (10-7)

Well, it's been a long time since I've done anything here. And I'm a gamer at heart, in spite of the fact that I haven't played a new game in forever. I've got finals coming up, and I need to get my mind off the stress of my studies, so over the next few days, I'll be talking about my top ten (+Honorable Mention) games of the past eleven years. Also, there will be Spoilers for most of these, for those who care.

Takkoku!! Chapter 16 Released!!

A midnight release?! (Well, for those of you on the West Coast anyways) Be glad, I ditched school today to finish this. Then promptly forgot to upload it. My bad. In exchange, have some Wriggle.

Nonetheless, here's the latest Takkoku chapter. Click.

Torrent here. Click.

And if you're wondering why this is so late, it's because I'm a goddamn lazy bastard.

And school. School's always an excuse.

So I've Been Playing Monster Hunter 3rd Portable

Jesus christ this game is amazing.

Unfortunately, the only version out right now is in Japanese, but I'm sure an English patch will roll around sometime soon. How soon, is the question.

Anyways, first impressions of the game.

Amazing soundtrack. I really love the new atmosphere they set in with the setting and music in this one. Your character isn't as customizable as they are in Monster Hunter Tri, but it's good enough. Not like you'll be looking at the face much of the time, if at all.

The first new map is absolutely gorgeous. It really has this foreign, traditional Japanese feel to it, with the beautiful falling waterfalls and falling leaves.

Killed my first Great Jaggi so far. Nothing too hard, typical Monster Hunter Tri fare. I'm excited to see what future monsters have in store for me, especially the new ones.

Oh, and being a Lance main, the new attack is <3.

Takkoku!! Chapter 15 Released!!

Yeah, we're hella late. Deal with it.

Don't worry, next chapter won't take two weeks like this one did. Probably >_>.

In other news, I'm done with nearly all my college applications! Now hopefully I can devote more time to typesetting and blogging.

Nonetheless, here it is.Click here.

Torrent be here, mateys. Click me please.

Delays Ahoy!! (Oh, and Umineko Fighter.)

So, where the hell is the latest Takkoku!! chapter?

It's not done yet. Some things happened, mostly my fault, but it'll be done either VERY VERY late today or tomorrow. So don't worry, you'll be seeing it at least.

And while you rage at me, watch this.

November 17, 2010

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Gamestop Collector's Edition

Aww yeah.

Would you look at that. Two DLC characters.

I dislike the notion of having characters being available as DLC, but since this is Marvel vs. Capcom 3, it brings up possibilities of other characters to be added in rather than the current roster. Like Gene. ;_;

I wonder why they had to pick the worst design of Jill. Her MvC2 design was awesome.

Anyways, go pre-order this now. Like I did in August. >_>

November 14, 2010

Takkoku!! Chapter 14 [Extra] Released!!

Ehh. No Chapter 15 yet. Why? Because, we got lazy over Veteran's day weekend (Except our translator, he's way ahead of schedule). Sorry >_>

A word of warning to you guys. See this picture right here? See it?
Yeah. DON'T EVER PLAY THIS GAME, IT WILL STEAL YOUR SOUL

I SPENT THREE DAYS PLAYING THIS NONSTOP AND I SPENT THE ENTIRE DAY TODAY THINKING IT WAS SATURDAY AND NOW I HAVE A BUNCH OF HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS I HAVE TO MAKE UP.

AND I'M STILL PLAYING IT.

Anyways, here's the direct download link for Chapter 14 Extra: Click me please.

And torrent link: Click me too. Please.

A Picture Drawn by an Eraser

Greetings, this is the translator for Evetaku. Just wanted to share a little translation I did on the side. Pageratta uploaded this short manga to his Pixiv account a few days ago and I thought it was nice. The original on Pixiv is here. The other pages are after the jump.

November 10, 2010

So About the Short Takkoku!! 4koma Release...

Hahahahaha.

No.

We'll just release it with the next chapter, so it's two in one. Kinda a good deal, right?

November 08, 2010

Why is Southern California Weather So Dumb?

I mean, seriously. Last week we were in the high 90's for the whole 7 days. Now, we had rain during the night and heavy wind throughout the day.

And even a few weeks before, we had heavy showers with the temperature at like, 93 degrees. At the same time.

Why can't it just be nice and warm all the time?

November 07, 2010

Totally Unproductive Weekend (And Some Updates)

So I spent my entire weekend playing these two games. Again.

Raping pixelized women, conquering Japan, and trading hats all day long. As unproductive as it was, I had a lot of fun.

The worst part is, I still have to go through my UC College applications, as well as my Personal Statement. But hey, I'm a senior with only two AP's, I can afford to waste two days...

...is what I'd like to believe, but I'm actually pretty screwed right now, but oh well. Just chilling out in my room, on my computer, listening to music with my AKG K701's and PA2V2 is good enough for me. I'm looking to buy the Grados 325i's too, but that might have to wait.

Anyways, some updates about Takkoku!!:

Our next release will the be the post-Chapter 14 4koma chapter. Since it's fairly short, expect it up by Wednesday, or Tuesday if you're lucky. It all depends on how lazy I'm feeling.

November 06, 2010

Yo, guys. Regaro here.

I'm the guy that does the cleaning for Takkoku. Pretty mediocre at it, but whatever. More importantly, I felt like talking about a couple of things I've really been into lately. The first one would be Franken Fran. Picked up this little gem of a manga about a week and a half ago and read up on it in a matter of days. It's about some kind if weird super-genius, female Frankenstein doctor that makes a living doing research and surgeries on people. I wouldn't exactly say it's for the squemish, as it gets pretty intense and gory sometimes, but if you don't mind that, it's definitely something worth looking into.

The other's a Video Game. Now I'll bet most of you have played it already, but I've really been playing Sonic Adventure 2: Battle lately. I'm not home often, but when I am, I usually spend at least six hours playing it (And I'm only home for like 2 days <_<). I'll spare you the details of the game itself since you probably already know them, but I totally skipped out on the Chao section of the game. I poured way way too many hours into that BEFORE college, and I actually managed to do almost everything possible in there. Lately, when I've gotten to play it, I've focused on Emblem collection. And goddamn, shooting levels are an absolute horror to collect 100 Rings on. I've already managed to max out my Emblems on all the other kinds of levels, but argh shooters kick my ass. And I can't even practice since I'm home for like one weekend a month. But hey maybe some day I'll unlock Green Hill Zone. My old N64 has lasted me for 15 years now, so there's no reason the Gamecube won't do the same...!

Takkoku!! Chapter 14 Released!!

Here it is! The next chapter of the long-dropped series.

We're just excited as you are.

Anyways, as for the secondary Chapter 1 translator, I added him in the credits this time.

And for our plans, we're just going to try our best to catch up to the raws. Hopefully we can get a chapter out each week. I typesetted the whole thing in one sitting. Took me 6 hours. Zzzzzzz.

Well, regardless, please enjoy this EveTaku release!

Shinryaku! Ika Musume - Little Ika Musume.

Cry your heart out, men.

Oh Wow, No Posts for the Whole Week?

I blame homework.

Anyways, school's been gay. So are college applications. Been really busy with those.

But don't fret! Chapter 14 of Takkoku!! is done!

But you gotta wait until tomorrow (technically today, since it's just past midnight as I'm posting this) for the download link.

Anyways, look forward to it!

And I love you all.

Get Your Wallets Ready North Americans and Europeans, The 3DS Launch is Dated for March!

Yep, you heard right.

While Japan is getting the 3DS in February, the 3DS launch for North America and Europe is only a month after.

No price for the 3DS in North America or Europe has been announced yet. That might change soon, however. Keep posted!

Visit us at our IRC Channel!

Bored? Wanna speak your mind? Have suggestions? Wanna help out with our manga scanlating endeavors?

We have our own IRC channel set up!

Visit us at #Evetaku!

Drop by, give us a greeting, whatever you want~

Why Erica and Sanya? Because I felt like it.

Just a Little Something For You to Know

So you might have noticed that have the first translated chapter of Takkoku!! up for download.

And you might notice some faults in our scanlation.

This is our very first time attempting something like this. Not just me as the typesetter, but everyone else as the cleaner, raw provider, QC'er, etc.

So if you notice faults in our scanlations, we're sorry. Just bear with us, we'll get better!

And no, this blog is not suddenly going to be converted into a manga scanlation site. I'll still be blogging about needless things most of you probably don't care about.

Or if you do, then that's great!

Actually, About Takkoku!!...

Yeah. We're not gonna do Chapters 2-13 for now.

We decided that we'd just continue on where the other scanlation group left off, and begin at Chapter 14.

We'll slowly do Chapters 2-13 as we go on, so by the time we catch up to the latest releases, hopefully we'll have all the previous chapters done as well.

Just a little update for you guys. Expect Chapter 14 up soon!

Or not. Most likely within a week, though.

And About the "Big Thing" I Mentioned...Here it is!!!

Our very first manga scan!

Just what did we scanlate? Takkoku!!

So after two weeks of work on the first chapter (Because first chapters are always so damn long), we're finally all done!

And before you guys say anything, yes, we realize there are already 13 chapters of Takkoku uploaded.

However, did you guys know there's 24 chapters out for this manga? Yeah. We're gonna hit that 24 chapter mark, and keep on going. We wanted to start fresh though, so we decided to start over at Chapter 1. I hope you guys don't mind.

Also, I totally forgot, which is really careless of me, but we had two translators work on this. The first one went MIA after a few pages though, and I forgot to put him in the credits page.

So I'll fix that in the credits page next chapter, but for now, Secondary Translator Credits: PlzDontHurtMe.

Sorry about that >_>
Anyways, enjoy! Download link here!

Or, if you're not a fan of direct downloads, torrent is here.

October 27, 2010

Yeah, ok, I know I haven't been posting much.

Listen to me here for a bit.

Well, my excuse would be school. Midterms are this week, hence why there have been nearly no posts.

Well, not like anybody even comes here. I just do this out of boredom >_>

Anyways, despite all this, there's a BIG surprise coming either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

And I mean BIG. If you love to read manga, you're going to love what's to come

Keep an eye out!

More (Depressing?) News for MvC3 Roster.

Are you just DYING to find out who will and won't make it into Capcom's upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom game? Look no further, a recent tweet brings us updates.

Read it here.

I'm personally not happy. At all.

Catherine to Grace Consoles February 2011!

Yes, you know. THAT Catherine. The one being made by the Persona Team.

The story involves Vincent, an ambitionless salaryman (called a "herbivore" in Japanese slang) who is dating Katherine with a K. After a one nightstand with Catherine, Vincent begins to have nightmares with giant sheep and heart monsters

Sound interesting? If so, fear not, chances are you'll be playing it this upcoming February!

I find it amusing that February is also when Valentine occurs. Not so much a coincidence by Atlus, perhaps?

Keep posted for more. Probably.

Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman Review for PSP!

No, this review is not by me. I plan to pick up this game later and play through it, but for now a review has popped up. Find the review here.

I'm definitely looking forward to playing this myself. I really want to support NIS for always going out of their way to bring Japanese games I thought would never be localized over to the states. I mean, not many game publishers out there have the guts to do such a thing.

That and I mean, read the title outloud to yourself. How does this not sound awesome?

The interface seems to heavily resemble Disgaea's interface, which is a good thing. Nice, cute 2D graphics with an easily accessible map. And of course, NIS games are always chock full of entertaining dialogue.

Oh, did I mention that this has Shana/Ore no Imouto/Index/etc. crossovers?

Not cut out of the localized version, by the way. Way to go, NIS America.

Some more screenies on the bottom.

Got a PSP? Be sure to support NIS America and buy this game!

Keep posted for more news~

Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage Demo on PSN and Xbox Live October 19th

Yes, they're actually bringing this game over to the states.

Being a big fan of musou games, I am extremely hyped up for this. Exploding balloon heads? Yes please.

Sengoku Basara 3: Samurai Heroes Early Impressions

So this game came out on the Wii and PS3 yesterday.

I'll say this: This game is awesome. Really awesome.

So I start up the game, I'm greeted with an awesome cinematic opening with a TAM Revolution song playing in the background. I knew from the start that I was in for an awesome game.

I picked Yukimura Sanada as my first character.

I went through his story in about an hour and a half.

I enjoyed every microsecond of it.

Despite this being a musou game at its core, the actual combat and skill system that this game implements (which is a HUGE improvement from Sengoku Basara 2) adds a lot of depth and fun to the supposedly repetitive combat.

Not much else to say for now, other than that the game so far is really great. Definitely pick up this gem, it's only $39.99.

I'll post a full impression after I'm done with the game. Currently on Masamune's story so far.

Keep posted.

Shinryaku! Ika Musume Ep. 2 Impressions

And so comes the second episode of Shinrayku! Ika Musume.

Nothing has really changed fundamentally from the first episode. The overall structure, pacing, style and humor remain intact, which is a great thing. The whole show feels really light hearted, and it's a show where I can just sit back in my chair and relax while watching.

So as the episode progressed, the first of the three stories in the episode introduces us to a new character.

Pictured on the left.
He's named Arashiyama Goro, and he works as a lifesaver on the beach. He's apparently Eiko's childhood friend. Soon after he's introduced, Ika Musume develops a rivalry with Goro, with both competing against one another to see who the "true" guardian and protector of the sea is.

The animation remains top notch, with no visible glaring QUALITY scenes like Star Driver had. Everything flowed smoothly, and the background and character details were fleshed out smoothly as well. The great facial expressions were evident in this episode as well.

The second story in the episode follows cast celebrating Ika Musume's birthday (when it really wasn't her birthday).

Cake, fireworks, and imaginary attempted murder was involved.

The third story in the episode introduced us to a new female character, Sanae, who happens to be very cute.

Yes, I have a thing for Alice headbands and short brown hair.

Thing is, she's completely head over heels in "love" with Ika Musume, since Sanae thinks she's really cute. Or something.

The kanji character reads "love"
She even went as far as to take various pictures of Ika Musume, and made a photo album out of it.

Sanae rape face imminent

gon' get raped

...and caught red handed.
Here are various pictures of Ika Musume in various outfits for (Sanae's) your viewing pleasure

Still a keeper for this Fall season. Great, comedic show thus far with a cast of likeable characters.

Look out for the next episode impression, or my Star Driver episode 2 impression.
